Yellowstone Valley Electric Cooperative
is one of the nations 1,000electric cooperatives. We currently have 50 dedicated employees sharing the goal, "To Make Life Better With Electricity". YVEC has come a long way since its humble beginnings and continues to prosper for the 9,000 member-owners.
In 1937, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a bill allowing Rural Electrification Administration (REA) to make low interest loans available to newly formed utilities such as YVEC.
On February 23, 1937 sixteen area Montana pioneers formed the Yellowstone Valley Electric Association, known today as Yellowstone Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc. During the early 1940s, the Billings Substation was the first delivery point to come on line and serve the entire system. Over the years YVEC has continued to grow and today YVEC has a total of 18 distribution substations, two transmission substations and over 2,000 miles of line serving over 12,000 meters.

Payment Boxes:
For convenient bill payments, there is a drive-up window at the office open during normal business hours and a drop box available for after hours payments. In addition to the drop box at the office, payment boxes are also available at the Albertson's stores located in Billings at 3137 Grand Avenue and 670 Main Street in the heights and at Jan's IGA located at 205 1st Ave. South in Laurel. |

The YVEC office is closed on the following holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after and Christmas Day. Our operations personnel are available to handle outages and emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be reached at the emergency number below. |
