YVEC rates are based on wholesale power costs plus operation costs. We strive to provide the best possible electrical service at the lowest possible price. YVEC uses a step rate to allow larger users to benefit from a declining cost per kilowatt-hour. A base charge per month helps pay for the standard service, such as the transformer, meter, secondary wire, etc. as well as the interest, taxes, and maintenance costs associated with that service.
