Ray Michels Memorial Scholarship

Yellowstone Valley Electric Cooperative (YVEC) offers two $1000 Ray Michels Memorial scholarships for students enrolling in an accredited two-year college, vocational or technical school. Scholarships are based on academic achievement, personal statement, and community activities.

1.) The applicant or the dependent applicant's parent/guardian is currently receiving electric service from Yellowstone Valley Electric Cooperative (YVEC) at their residence, is a member of Yellowstone Valley Electric Cooperative, and is not an employee or board member. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen.

2.) The applicant must be a student who is enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university for the upcoming fall term.

3.) Scholarships are based on the following criteria:
Leadership (50%) - including school and community activities, awards, honors, and school experience
Academic achievement (25%) - grade point average and SAT or ACT scores
Personal statement (25%) - 250 words or less about how your leadership, school, and community activities will influence your career goals

4.) The completed scholarship application is due to the YVEC office by March 13, 2020. The decision will be made with notification to the student. If the recipient is a graduating senior, the school will announce the name at graduation or an award assembly.
