Yellowstone Valley Electric Cooperative (YVEC) rates are based on wholesale power costs plus operation costs. We strive to provide the best possible electrical service at the lowest possible price. A base charge per month helps pay for the standard service, such as the transformer, meter, secondary wire, etc. as well as the interest, taxes, and maintenance costs associated with that service.
What is Demand?
Demand measures the highest amount of electricity (measured in kilowatts, or kW) used during a 15-minute interval within the billing period. Using multiple appliances or equipment at the same time can increase your demand. Stagger appliance and equipment use to lower demand.

- Rate: $0.1168 per kWh

Irrigation Rates
- Base: $55.00 (No Kilowatt-hours used)
- Demand: $12.00 per kW
- Rate: $0.0655 per kWh
Small Commercial Rates
- Base: $65.00 (No Kilowatt-hours used)
- Demand: $12.00 per kW
- Rate: $0.0838 per kWh
Large Commercial Rates
- Base: $85.00 (No Kilowatt-hours used)
- Demand: $12.00 per kW
- Rate: $0.0835 per kWh

- 100 Watt High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) / 175 Watt Mercury Vapor (MV) / 73 Watt Light-Emitting Diode (LED)
